Hertog Jan Tripel

Tasting notes: We are not entirely sure where the traditional designation ‘tripel’ comes from. It could refer to the triple amount of ingredients we use in brewing, and the resulting heaviness of the beer. According to other sources, breweries in the past gave the beer with the highest alcohol percentage the name Tripel, to distinguish it from the other beers. This does not apply to us, our heaviest beer is the Grand Prestige. Hertog Jan Tripel is one of our heaviest beers at 8.5%. Despite that solid content, it is characterized by a flexible and accessible character. It is a beautiful blond in colour and tastes malty to sweet, with a soft bitterness and a palette of fruit flavours. The secondary fermentation takes place in the bottle at our Tripel. This ensures a fresher and richer taste. It’s a beer to take your time for. Sit down and enjoy, just like we do when we pour ourselves a Hertog Jan Tripel.
